For he has two hands, in whose palms
For he has two palms that rain
Lies spring's abundant rain for orphans and the poor.
Springtime for the orphans and the poor.

When she has brought me to Khalid and has not yet risen,
When news of Khalid's death reached me
Then may her belly's flowing blood drench her forelegs.
As my tears flowed copiously.

And what burdens and needs press upon me,
And glory upon glory, its heavy burdens firmly anchored.
And glory upon glory made heavy by fate.

On the way to you, the straps around her saddles were drawn tight
The days have folded their tents and departed,
By scorching noons of days she joins to night.
Migrating nights come in succession.

Quraysh—its noblest men—and Darim raised him,
He was nursed by Quraysh, honored by Darim,
And Sa'd, his tribes, to noble glory.
And Sa'd, of generous glory are his tribes.
