كُلُّ اِمرِئٍ يَرضى وَإِن كانَ كامِلاً

كُلُّ اِمرِئٍ يَرضى وَإِن كانَ كامِلاً

إِذا كانَ نِصفاً مِن سَعيدِ بنِ خالِدِ

إِذا كانَ نِصفاً مِن سَعيدِ بنِ خالِدِ

Every man would be content, even if he were perfect,

Though every man be satisfied, were he perfect,

if he were half of Saʿīd son of Khālid.

Yet would he be but as Saeed bin Khaled's half,

لَهُ مِن قُرَيشٍ طَيِّبوها وَقَبصُها

لَهُ مِن قُرَيشٍ طَيِّبوها وَقَبصُها

وَإِن عَضَّ كَفَّي أُمِّهِ كُلُّ حاسِدِ

وَإِن عَضَّ كَفَّي أُمِّهِ كُلُّ حاسِدِ

His are Quraysh’s finest men and its multitude,

He is of Kuraish - the purest stock, their crown.

even if every envious man bites both his mother’s palms.

Though envy bite its hands, each hater and defamer.
