أَلَم تَرَني نادَيتُ سَلماً وَدونَهُ
مِنَof الأَرضِthe land ماthat which يُنضيwears out البِغالَthe mules النَواجِياthe swift-running ones
مِنَ الأَرضِ ما يُنضي البِغالَ النَواجِيا
Did you not see me call to Salm, though between us lay

I see no nobler traits enduring in this world."

He said, 'Yes, take him'; no sooner had he been brought by
She said, "Yes, take him." But my right hand did not accept him
my right hand than my left came to its aid.
Until my left hand cried out for him.
