أَلاAh! طالَماfor a long time رَسَّفتُI shuffled فيin قَيدِthe shackles of مالِكٍMalik
أَلا طالَما رَسَّفتُ في قَيدِ مالِكٍ
فَأَصبَحَthen became فيon رِجلَيهِhis two legs قَيديmy shackles مُحَوَّلاtransferred
فَأَصبَحَ في رِجلَيهِ قَيدي مُحَوَّلا
Ah, how long I shuffled in Malik's shackles!
How long did I drag my chains as Mâlik's slave
Then my shackles were transferred to his legs.
Till my chains on his feet were changed!
وَأَطلَقَنيand he freed me النَضرُal-Nadr اِبنُson of عَمروٍAmr وَرُبَّماand often
وَأَطلَقَني النَضرُ اِبنُ عَمروٍ وَرُبَّما
بِكَفَّيهِwith his two hands قَدindeed فَكَّfreed الأَسيرَthe captive المُكَبَّلاshackled
بِكَفَّيهِ قَد فَكَّ الأَسيرَ المُكَبَّلا
And al-Nadr, son of Amr, set me free; and many a time
But Nadr, Amr's son, has freed me,
with both his hands he has freed the shackled captive.
And with his own hands has unbound my arms.
