عَميرَةُ عَبدِ القَيسِ خَيرُ عِمارَةٍ

عَميرَةُ عَبدِ القَيسِ خَيرُ عِمارَةٍ

وَفارِسُ عَبدِ القَيسِ مِنها وَنابُها

وَفارِسُ عَبدِ القَيسِ مِنها وَنابُها

ʿAmīra of ʿAbd al-Qays is the finest clan,

The home of 'Amirat, slave of al-Qais, is the best home,

And from it come ʿAbd al-Qays’s horseman and its fang.

And the horseman of the slave of al-Qais is its protector.

فَأَنتُم بَدَأتُم بِالهَدِيَّةِ قَبلَنا

فَأَنتُم بَدَأتُم بِالهَدِيَّةِ قَبلَنا

فَكانَ عَلَينا يا اِبنَ مُخٍّ ثَوابُها

فَكانَ عَلَينا يا اِبنَ مُخٍّ ثَوابُها

So you began with the gift before us,

So you have started with the gift before us,

So repaying it fell to us, O son of Mukhkh.

And so the reward was upon us, O son of Mukh, for it.
