This is a drop through which the eye has gained

This is a droplet with which the eye attained

Safety from the deadly assault of diseases.

قد دَعَوها قطرَ الندى وهو لفظٌ

They have called it Qatr al-Nada (“Dewdrops”), a term

It has been called a dewdrop, and that is a name

That alludes to the most delicate of purposes.

With which the gentlest of purposes is implied

فبها تسلمُ العيونُ كما تحيى

بقطرِ الندى زهور الرياضِ

بقطرِ الندى زهور الرياضِ

So through it eyes stay safe, just as life is given

With it eyes are kept safe just as flowers thrive

By drops of dew to the flowers of the gardens.
