My soul for him who tormented me and fled;
With my spirit from the one who parted from me and turned away
his eye has taught me sleeplessness.
He has an eye that taught me sleeplessness

A gazelle among humankind, he has sapped my strength,
A gazelle of intimacy that has confused me
and has neither repented of his deed nor apologized.
And he did not refrain from his deed nor apologized

and a trace of mockery on his lips:
And on his upper lip the trace of mockery

In my liver there is a sickness from his aloofness
my physician found it in peril.
That my doctor saw as dangerous

An angel! And after that, is there any doubt
An angel, and is there any doubt after that
that the angel’s heart is stone?
That the heart of an angel is stone
