جاؤُوا بِرَأْسِكَ يا ابْنَ بِنْتِ مُحَمّدٍ

جاؤُوا بِرَأْسِكَ يا ابْنَ بِنْتِ مُحَمّدٍ

مُتَرَمِّلاً بِدِمائِهِ تَرْمِيلا

مُتَرَمِّلاً بِدِمائِهِ تَرْمِيلا

They brought your head, O son of Muhammad's daughter,

They brought your head, O son of Muhammad's daughter

Thoroughly smeared with its blood.

Dripping with blood, dripping steadily

وكأنّما بِكَ يا ابْنَ بنتِ مُحَمّدٍ

وكأنّما بِكَ يا ابْنَ بنتِ مُحَمّدٍ

قَتَلوا جَهاراً عامدينَ رَسُولا

قَتَلوا جَهاراً عامدينَ رَسُولا

And it is as though, in killing you, O son of Muhammad's daughter,

As though in killing you, O son of Muhammad’s daughter

They openly and deliberately killed a messenger.

They had openly killed the Messenger himself

قَتَلُوكَ عَطْشَاناً ولَمّا يَرْقُبُوا

قَتَلُوكَ عَطْشَاناً ولَمّا يَرْقُبُوا

في قَتْلِكَ التنِّزيلَ والتّأْويلا

في قَتْلِكَ التنِّزيلَ والتّأْويلا

They killed you thirsty, and had not heeded

They killed you thirsty, with no regard

In killing you, the revelation and its interpretation.

For the revelation or scripture in your murder

ويُكَبِّرونَ بِأَنْ قُتِلْتَ وإنّما

ويُكَبِّرونَ بِأَنْ قُتِلْتَ وإنّما

قَتَلوا بكَ التّكْبيرَ والتّهْليلاَ

قَتَلوا بكَ التّكْبيرَ والتّهْليلاَ

And they proclaim 'God is greatest' because you were killed, yet in truth

And they glorify that you were killed, even though

By killing you, they killed the proclamations 'God is greatest' and 'There is no god but God'.

In killing you they have killed glorification and praise
