واصِلْ مدامَكَ واهْجُرْ قَالةَ النّاسِ

واصِلْ مدامَكَ واهْجُرْ قَالةَ النّاسِ

وَرُحْ إلى صَدْرِ مَلْهَى خَيْرِ جُلاَّسِ

وَرُحْ إلى صَدْرِ مَلْهَى خَيْرِ جُلاَّسِ

Keep drinking your wine, and shun people's gossip.

Continue your revelry and shun the gatherings of people,

And go to the place of honor in the finest companions' revelry,

And go to the bosom of the finest of companions,

إلى ثِمَارِ سُرُورٍ في ثَرَى قَدَحٍ

إلى ثِمَارِ سُرُورٍ في ثَرَى قَدَحٍ

في فِتْيَةٍ غُررٍ ليسوا بأَنكاسِ

في فِتْيَةٍ غُررٍ ليسوا بأَنكاسِ

To the fruits of joy in the soil of a goblet,

To the fruits of joy in the meadows of wine-cups,

Among illustrious youths who are no weaklings.

Among choice youths who are no riffraff.

ظَلّتْ مَطَايا المَلاَهي وهيَ واجِفَةٌ

ظَلّتْ مَطَايا المَلاَهي وهيَ واجِفَةٌ

بِنَا وكُنّا مَطَايا الوَرْدِ والآسِ

بِنَا وكُنّا مَطَايا الوَرْدِ والآسِ

The steeds of pleasure kept galloping

The camels of revels stayed with us though now emaciated,

With us aboard, while we were steeds for roses and myrtle,

While we were the camels of roses and myrtle.

وكَأْسِ خَمْرٍ كَماءِ التِّبْرِ لابسَةٍ

وكَأْسِ خَمْرٍ كَماءِ التِّبْرِ لابسَةٍ

وِشَاحَ شَذْرٍ تُزْجيِّهِ إِلى طَاسِ

وِشَاحَ شَذْرٍ تُزْجيِّهِ إِلى طَاسِ

And for a cup of wine like liquid gold, wearing

And a cup of wine like cool spring water,

A sash of beads that it passes into a bowl.

Adorned with a wrap of brocade sent to the one who pours.
