I grin at the one among them whose rancor abides,
With cheer I greet their scowling faces,
And laugh until my whole canine tooth shows.
And laugh until my tusks all show,

وأهدنُهُ بالقول هدنا ولو يرى

And I placate him with soothing words; but if he saw
And soothe with gentle speech, although
The secret of what I conceal, he would spend the night terrified.
My heart would tear their breasts' embraces.
