Do you recognize the traces, the ruins, and the darkened campsite remains?

They added sorrow to the heart, beyond what it already held.

دار الصفراء إذ كانت تحل بها

وإذ ترى الوصل فيما بيننا حسنا

وإذ ترى الوصل فيما بيننا حسنا

Al-Ṣafrāʾ’s dwelling, when she used to live there,

And when she deemed the union between us good;

إذ نستبيك بمصقول عوارضُهُ

إذ نستبيك بمصقول عوارضُهُ

ومقلتي جؤذر لم يعد أن شدَنا

When we captivated you with a mouth whose side teeth gleamed,

And the two eyes of a wild-ox calf only just grown independent of its mother.
