على الذي كان اقترف

I think my Fate has grown remorseful

for what it had committed.

عندي فتاب واعترف

It saw how grave its offense against me was,

It saw the enormity of its sin

so it repented and confessed.

وقد حَباني بكم

كفَّارةً لِما سلف

Indeed, it bestowed you upon me

And it has bestowed you upon me

as atonement for all that had gone before.

Had it known the worth of what

it bestowed—these rare treasures—

لانقضتْ قوّتُه

ومات غيظاً وأسف

ومات غيظاً وأسف

its strength would have been spent,

its strength would have failed,

and it would have died of rage and grief.
