Must I feel grief at parting every day,

As though separation were an endowment reserved for me alone?

They went far away, and sorrow pours torrents of my tears

Down my cheek, till I almost sink in their flood.

I blame the raven of parting on the day of their departure,

Yet it is only a ship and a young she-camel.

Yes, there is skill in stealing the heart with a glance—

So, what a wonder—even eyes are thieves!
