انظرْ إلى الخالِ على خَدِّها

فإنَّ فيه كلَّ معنىً دقيقْ

Look at the mole on her cheek,

Behold her mole upon her cheek -

For in it lies every subtle meaning:

Within it lies a meaning deep,

كوجهِ زنجيٍّ بدا من خلا

Like a Black African's face appearing through

Like face of negro peering through

The fire, crying, 'Fire! Fire!'

The cleft of ruby comes to view,

أو حبةٍ من سَبَجٍ رُصِّعت

أو حبةٍ من سَبَجٍ رُصِّعت

في صفحةٍ من كرةٍ من عقيق

في صفحةٍ من كرةٍ من عقيق

Or a bead of jet inlaid

Or globule of black amber set

In the surface of a sphere of carnelian,

In disk of coral-red coronet,

أو السوادِ المستحَبِّ الذي

أو السوادِ المستحَبِّ الذي

يلمع في حمرةِ زهْرِ الشَّقيق

يلمع في حمرةِ زهْرِ الشَّقيق

Or the pleasing blackness that

Or sable tresses that enhance

Shines amid the redness of anemone blossoms.

The rose's softly glowing glance.
