أَسيرُI journey وقلبيand my heart فيin يديكِyour two hands أَسيرُa captive
وحادِىand the camel-driver غراميmy passion لوعةٌburning anguish وزَفيرُand sighing
I journey, while my heart lies captive in your hands.
I'm a captive, and my heart is in your hands, a captive
And my passion's camel-driver is burning anguish and sighing.
And my love's passion is agony and sighing
أظلُّI continue أُناجيI commune with الشوقَlonging حتىuntil كأنماas though
فؤاديmy heart لأنواعِto the kinds of الهمومsorrows سَميرa nightly companion
I keep communing with longing, until it is as though
I keep whispering to longing, as though
My heart were a nightly companion to every kind of sorrow.
My heart were a gathering for all kinds of sorrows
أَلاah هلْis there لأيامِfor the days of الوصالِunion تَواصُلٌcontinuation
وهلand is there ليfor me إلىto سكانِthe inhabitants of مِصْرEgypt مَصيرa journey
Ah, will the days of union continue?
Oh, will there ever again be days of union?
And is there a way for me to reach the inhabitants of Egypt?
And will I ever return to the dwellers of Egypt?
