1. للهِ حمام كروضٍ أنيقْ

    رافقني فيه رقيقٌ رفيقْ

    God be praised for a bathhouse like a lovely garden!

    A gentle companion accompanied me there.

  2. صَفا ليَ العيشُ بها مثلما

    صفا لقلبي ودُّ ذاك الصَّديقْ

    Life within was sweet to me, just as

    That friend's love was pure in my heart.

  3. تَنَاسبتْ شخصا وخبْرا فما

    للذمّ والعيب إليها طريق

    Its form and substance were in harmony, so

    Blame and fault had no path to it.

  4. أَحَرَّها الوقّاد حتى غدا

    من أجلها للروح مثل الشقيق

    The stoker heated it until he became

    Because of it, like a brother to the soul.

  5. فالماءُ فيها كحياةٍ جَرتْ

    بها العَوافِي والصِّبَا في العروق

    For the water within is like life, flowing

    With health and youth through the veins,

  6. تحت بخارٍ عَطِرٍ مثلما

    شُبْتَ بماءِ الورد مِسْكا فَتيق

    Beneath fragrant steam, as though

    You had mixed unsealed musk with rosewater.

  7. راقتْ حياضا فأقلُّ القَذى

    فيها كشمسٍ تحت غيمٍ رقيق

    Its pools were clear, so the tiniest mote

    In them was like the sun beneath a thin cloud.

  8. خُصَّت بألوان الرخام الذي

    له بها كلُّ طِرازٍ دقيق

    It was graced with hues of marble, which

    Displayed within it every delicate design.

  9. فأعجبُ الأمرِ شموسٌ بها

    طالعةٌ دائمةٌ في شروق

    And most wondrous of all are the suns within it,

    Rising, in perpetual sunrise.

  10. فالنفس منها في سرور كما

    سَرَّ سُرورَ القلب شربُ الرَّحيق

    So the soul draws joy from it, just as

    Drinking pure wine brought joy to the heart.

  11. فقد وَدِدنا أنَّ أعمارنا

    فيها صَبوحٌ دائم أو غَبوق

    And indeed we wished that our lives

    Within it were an endless morning draught or an evening one.
