أَفسَدتَهُمyou ruined them ثُمَّthen ماnot أَصلَحتَyou improved مِنof نَسَبِكyour lineage
You coerced ʿIjl into yielding two vulvas in one year.
You hastily married two clans in a year,
You ruined them, yet did not improve your lineage at all.
Then ruined them without mending your lineage,
وَلَوand even if خَطَبتَyou sought a bride إِلىfrom طَوقٍṬawq وَأُسرَتِهِand his family
فَزَوَّجوكَand they gave you a bride لِماwould not زادوكَthey added to you فيin حَسَبِكyour ancestral standing
And even if you sought a bride from Ṭawq and his family,
Had you proposed to a clan and their family,
and they gave you one, they would not enhance your ancestral standing.
They would have married you despite your low birth,
نِكfuck مَنwhomever هَويتَyou desired وَنَلand obtain ماwhatever شِئتَyou wished مِنof نَسَبٍlineage

Fuck whomever you desire, and gain whatever lineage you wish.
You are who you desire, attaining the lineage you want,
You are Ziryāb’s son, your lineage traced to your wealth.
You are the son of Ziriab, tracing your origin to dung beetles,
إِنif كانَthere were قَومٌa people أَرادَwished اللَهُGod خِزيَهُمtheir disgrace
فَزَوَّجوكَand they gave you a bride اِرتِغاباًout of desire مِنكَfrom you فيfor ذَهَبِكyour gold
If there were people whom God wished to disgrace,
If a people God wanted humiliated,
and they gave you a bride, coveting your gold,
Married you out of greed for your gold,
فَذاكَthat, then يوجِبُentails أَنَّthat النَبعَthe nabʿ tree (bow wood) تَجمَعُهُyou join it
إِلىto خِلافِكَyour willow فيamong العيدانِthe wooden rods أَوor غَرَبَكyour gharab-willow
that, then, means you join the nabʿ bow-wood
That would necessitate the springs to gather,
to your willow or gharab-willow among the wooden rods.
In opposition to you, in the tent pegs or the West,
وَلَوand if سَكَتَّyou kept silent وَلَمand did not تَخطُبseek a bride إِلىfrom عَرَبٍArabs
لَماwould not نَبَستَyou uttered الَّذيwhat تَطويهِyou conceal it مِنof سَبَبِكyour ancestry
And had you kept silent and not sought a bride from Arabs,
If you had stayed silent and not proposed to the Arabs,
you would not have voiced what you conceal of your ancestry.
You would not have tied what you now conceal of your cause,
عُدَّcount البُيوتَthe houses (families) الَّتيthat تَرضىyou are content بِخُطبَتِهاwith seeking marriage into them

Count the houses you are content to seek brides from:
Consider the houses pleased with your proposal,
you will find Fazāra al-ʿUklī among your Arabs.
And you will find the lowliness of Ukaili among your Arabs.
