كَأَنَّماas though كَفُّهاher palm إِذاwhen اِختَضَبَتis dyed with henna
كَأَنَّما كَفُّها إِذا اِختَضَبَت
مَخالِبُtalons البازِthe hawk ضُرِّجَتwere stained بِدَمِwith blood
مَخالِبُ البازِ ضُرِّجَت بِدَمِ
It is as though her palm, when dyed with henna,
were a hawk’s talons stained with blood.
