لَوif قُتِّلواthey were slaughtered أَوor جُرِّحواthey were wounded قَصرَهby force
Indeed, Ibn Tawq and the sons of Taghlib,
if they were slaughtered or wounded by force,
لَمnot يَأخُذواthey would receive مِنfrom دِيَةٍblood money دِرهَماًa dirham
يَوماًever وَلاnor مِنfrom أَرشِهِمtheir compensation for wounds بَعرَهa dung pellet
would not receive a dirham in blood money,
ever, nor a dung pellet in compensation for their wounds.

مَطلولَةٌshed with impunity مِثلَlike دَمِthe blood of العُذرَهvirginity (the hymen)
Their blood has no one to claim redress for it,
shed with impunity, like the blood of defloration.

Their faces are white, and their family reputations
are black, with yellow in their ears.
