لَقَد عَلِمتُ وَمالي ما أَعيشُ بِهِ

أَنَّ الَّتي أَدرَكَتني حِرفَةُ الأَدَبِ

I have indeed learned, with nothing to live on,

that what has overtaken me is the ill fortune of letters.
