جِئتُI have come بِلاwithout حُرمَةٍa claim to respect وَلاnor سَبَبِa connection
جِئتُ بِلا حُرمَةٍ وَلا سَبَبِ
إِلَيكَto you إِلّاexcept بِحُرمَةِby the claim of الأَدَبِliterary learning
إِلَيكَ إِلّا بِحُرمَةِ الأَدَبِ
I have come with neither a claim nor a connection,
To you, save the claim of letters.
فَاِقضِso fulfill ذِماميmy due فَإِنَّنيfor I am رَجُلٌa man
فَاِقضِ ذِمامي فَإِنَّني رَجُلٌ
غَيرُnot مُلِحٍّinsistent عَلَيكَupon you فيin الطَلَبِasking
غَيرُ مُلِحٍّ عَلَيكَ في الطَلَبِ
So grant me my due, for I am a man
Who does not press you insistently with requests.
