طَرَقَتكَ طارِقَةُ المُنى بِبَياتِ

طَرَقَتكَ طارِقَةُ المُنى بِبَياتِ

لا تُظهِري جَزَعاً فَأَنتِ بَداتِ

لا تُظهِري جَزَعاً فَأَنتِ بَداتِ

A visitor of longing came to you by night.

The harbinger of desires knocked on your door at nightfall

Do not show anguish, for you were the one who began.

Do not show grief, for you have begun

في حُبِّ آلِ المُصطَفى وَوَصِيِّهِ

في حُبِّ آلِ المُصطَفى وَوَصِيِّهِ

شُغلٌ عَنِ اللَذاتِ وَالقَيناتِ

شُغلٌ عَنِ اللَذاتِ وَالقَيناتِ

In love for the family of al-Mustafa and his appointed successor

To love the Prophet's family and his successor

there is a preoccupation that keeps one from pleasures and singing slave-girls.

A preoccupation beyond pleasures and songs

إِنَّ النَشيدَ بِحُبِّ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ

إِنَّ النَشيدَ بِحُبِّ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ

أَزكى وَأَنفَعُ لي مِنَ القُنياتِ

أَزكى وَأَنفَعُ لي مِنَ القُنياتِ

Indeed, a song of love for the family of Muhammad

Indeed, singing the praises of Muhammad's family

is purer and more beneficial to me than possessions.

Is purer and more beneficial for me than treasures

فاحِشُ القَصيدَ بِهِم وَفَرِّغ فيهِمُ

فاحِشُ القَصيدَ بِهِم وَفَرِّغ فيهِمُ

قَلباً حَشَوتَ هَواهُ بِاللَذاتِ

قَلباً حَشَوتَ هَواهُ بِاللَذاتِ

So fill your verse with them, and empty out for them

So fill the ode with them and empty into them

a heart whose passion you have filled with pleasures.

A heart crammed with passions and desires

وَاَقطَع حِبالَةَ مَن يُريدُ سِواهُمُ

وَاَقطَع حِبالَةَ مَن يُريدُ سِواهُمُ

في حُبِّهِ تَحلُل بِدارِ نَجاةِ

في حُبِّهِ تَحلُل بِدارِ نَجاةِ

And sever the cord of anyone who desires others besides them

And cut off attachment to those who want other than them

in his love; you will dwell in an abode of salvation.

In loving them lies deliverance to the abode of salvation
