أَخٌ لَكَ عاداهُ الزَمانُ فَأَصبَحَت

أَخٌ لَكَ عاداهُ الزَمانُ فَأَصبَحَت

مُذَمَّمَةً فيما لَدَيهِ العَواقِبُ

مُذَمَّمَةً فيما لَدَيهِ العَواقِبُ

A brother of yours whom Time has turned against, so that

A brother you have, whom time has made an enemy,

the outcomes of his affairs have become deplorable.

So among his concerns are disastrous ends,

مَتى ما تُذَوِّقهُ التَجارِبُ صاحِباً

مَتى ما تُذَوِّقهُ التَجارِبُ صاحِباً

مِنَ الناسِ تَردُدهُ إِلَيكَ التَجارِبُ

مِنَ الناسِ تَردُدهُ إِلَيكَ التَجارِبُ

Whenever trials let him taste a companion's friendship

Whenever trials give him a companion of men,

from among people, trials send him back to you.

The trials return him to you again.
