1. جميعي حينَ أذكركُم شجونُ

    وكلّي حينَ أبكيكم عيونُ

    All of me, when I remember you, is sorrow.

    And all of me, when I weep for you, is eyes.

  2. وأنتم غايةُ الآمالِ عندي

    وان بخلت تُقرِّبكُم ظنونُ

    And you are the utmost of my hopes.

    And even if hopes are ungenerous, imaginings bring you near.

  3. وصالكمُ حياةُ الروحِ منّي

    وهجركمُ الأليمُ لي المنونُ

    Union with you is life to the soul within me.

    And your painful abandonment is death to me.

  4. أرى الأشواقَ تجذبني اليكم

    وسائِقُها الصَّبابةُ والحنينُ

    I see longings drawing me toward you.

    And what drives them is ardent love and yearning.

  5. بذلتُ لكم دموعَ العينِ لكن

    هواكم في حُشاشتي المصونُ

    I have offered you the tears of my eyes, but

    My love for you lies guarded in my life's core.

  6. يعزُّ عليَّ بعدكمُ ولكن

    مَماتي في محبَّتكم يهونُ

    Your absence is hard for me to bear, yet

    Dying for love of you is easy for me.

  7. أحبَّتنا أذبتم بالتنائي

    فؤاديَ فهو مكتئبٌ حزينُ

    Our beloved ones, through separation you have melted

    My heart, so it is dejected and sorrowful.

  8. هواكم لا تغيره اللّيالي

    وصبري عنكمُ قد لا يكونُ

    My love for you is not changed by the nights.

    And I may have no patience for being apart from you.
