Never have I seen or heard of his like:

a protector of the woman in her litter, a horseman who was not slain.

He slew horsemen who were no easy prey,

then went on as though he had done nothing.

Beaming, with the lines of his face shining,

like a keen sword polished by the burnisher's hand.

He urges his lady in her litter onward and trails his robe's hem,

turning to his right toward the dwelling.

And you see the horsemen, in fear of his spear,

like small, weak birds fearing the falcon's strike.

Oh, would that I knew who his father and mother are!

O friend, one like him does not go unrecognized.
