1. عج إلى منزل قصفٍ

    مطلق الروض الشذيّ

    Turn aside to an abode of revelry,

    Its fragrant garden open wide,

  2. مشرق الطلعة زاهٍ

    نافح الزهر النديّ

    Radiant in aspect, resplendent,

    Its dewy blossoms wafting fragrance.

  3. فاض شهداً وصفاءً

    من زلال جوهري

    It overflowed with honey and purity,

    From jewel-like, limpid water.

  4. ظاهرٌ مثل الثريّا

    من على ظهر العلي

    Prominent as the Pleiades,

    From atop the lofty height.

  5. قد حكى الأبلق عزّاً

    ببناءً كسرويّ

    It has matched al-Ablaq in grandeur,

    With Khosrow-like architecture.

  6. جنة فاحت رباها

    بالبسام العنبري

    A paradise whose hills breathed fragrance,

    With smiling, ambergris-scented blossoms.

  7. وجرت فيها السواقي

    بالشراب الكوثري

    And streams flowed within it,

    With drink like Kawthar’s.

  8. شاده نعم بشيرٌ

    ذا بنانٍ حاتمي

    Bashir, indeed, built it,

    With fingers like Hatim’s,

  9. الشهابيُّ المفدى

    دام بالعيش الهني

    Al-Shihabi, the cherished—

    May he live on in happiness.
