Sol 6.1

  1. فانزل بحضرة يونسٍ

    تامن به حوت الطريقِ

    So lodge in the presence of Yunus;

    through him you will be safe from the whale of the road.

  2. وأرح فؤادك واس

    تظل بظل أيوانوثيقِ

    And ease your heart, and seek

    the shade of a sturdy vaulted hall.

  3. وافرا بفاتحة الثنا

    حمداً لمنشئه العريقِ

    And [recite?] at the opening of praise

    thanks to its noble builder.

  4. أعني الشهابي البشير

    بكل سعدٍ للصديقِ

    I mean al-Shihabi, Bashir, the herald

    of every good fortune for the friend.

  5. وانشق نسيمات الصبا

    من عزف لبنان العبيقِ

    And breathe in the east wind’s gentle breezes

    from the music of fragrant Lebanon.
