تسير بها الركبان غرباً ومشرقا

Rashid’s virtues have soared to the loftiest heights of praise;

Rashid’s qualities have risen to heights of praise;

Caravans bear their fame westward and eastward.

Riders bear word of them westward and eastward.

فجئت وفي الآذان درُ مسامعٍ

فجئت وفي الآذان درُ مسامعٍ

تفيض به الإجفان شوقاً إلى اللقا

تفيض به الإجفان شوقاً إلى اللقا

So I came, my ears filled with the pearls of all I had heard,

So I came, with pearls of words heard in my ears,

Moved by those pearls, my eyes brimming with tears, yearning to meet him.

At which the eyelids overflow with longing for the meeting.
