فماfor none منهمamong them سوىexcept جوّادa lavish giver بذلgiving
فما منهم سوى جوّاد بذل
وطعانand a fierce lancer إذاwhen ماemphatic particle الحربwar ثارتerupted
وطعان إذا ما الحرب ثارت
Not one among them but is generous with his wealth,
For none among them is other than a lavish giver,
and a relentless spear-thruster whenever war erupts.
And a fierce lancer when war erupts.
كأنهمas though they were النجومthe stars ببرجin a constellation فضلexcellence
كأنهم النجوم ببرج فضل
بنورby the light ضياهمtheir radiance العلياءglory سارتadvanced
بنور ضياهم العلياء سارت
They are as stars in a constellation of virtue;
They are like stars in a constellation of excellence;
by the light of their radiance, lofty glory journeyed on.
By the light of their radiance, glory has advanced.
