سلوان همٍ ثم ترك بطالةٍ

Relief from worry, then abandoning idleness,

Relief from anxious care, abandoning idleness

and eloquence of expression, then leadership;

ولذاذة ونزاهة ونشاطة

ولذاذة ونزاهة ونشاطة

ويقاظة ونباهة وحماسه

ويقاظة ونباهة وحماسه

and pleasure, purity, and vigor;

And pleasures, integrity, and liveliness

and vigilance, acuity, and valor;

Wakefulness, brilliance, and enthusiasm

ورياضة الأجسام ثم طلاقة

ورياضة الأجسام ثم طلاقة

الأبصار ثم جلادة وفراسه

الأبصار ثم جلادة وفراسه

and exercise for the body, then freedom

And exercising the body, plus agility

of the gaze, then fortitude and discernment;

Of vision, toughness, and perspicacity

وصيانة ثم اكتساب معيشةٍ

وصيانة ثم اكتساب معيشةٍ

والعلم بالطرقات ثم سياسه

والعلم بالطرقات ثم سياسه

and protection, then earning a livelihood;

Preserving and acquiring a livelihood

and knowledge of the roads, then governance.
