How wondrous a gateway, facing toward the south!
With its arch, it has held back the wandering star.
فيin كلevery ناحيةside or part منof جانبيهits two sides ترىyou see
في كل ناحية من جانبيه ترى
قوسينtwo arches فوقabove عمادa column مفبردunclear; possibly 'single' (مفرد) عقداboth were constructed
قوسين فوق عماد مفبرد عقدا
On either side of it, you see
Two arches erected above a [possibly single] column.
يسودit reigns بينهماbetween the two of them حسناin beauty برونقهwith its splendor
يسود بينهما حسنا برونقه
كأنهas though it البدرthe full moon بينbetween التوأمينthe Twins بداappeared
كأنه البدر بين التوأمين بدا
In its splendor, it reigns in beauty between them,
As though the full moon had appeared between the Twins.
