رعى اللَه أوصافا بفضلك شمتها

وآيات مجد من علاك عهدتها

May God preserve the qualities I beheld in your excellence,

God has granted you virtues that I have perceived

and signs of glory I have known from your eminence.

And signs of glory from your highness I have witnessed

بروحي أفدي نعمةً منك حزتها

بروحي أفدي نعمةً منك حزتها

وباقة زهرٍ من أقاحٍ منحتها

وباقة زهرٍ من أقاحٍ منحتها

With my soul I would ransom a favor I received from you,

With my soul I ransom a blessing from you I have seized

and a bouquet of daisy blossoms granted me

And a bouquet of flowers from meadows you have gifted

من البطل المشهور في عظم فعله

من البطل المشهور في عظم فعله

يلوح سناها في ابتهاج كومض

يلوح سناها في ابتهاج كومض

by the hero renowned for the greatness of his deeds.

From the famous hero of great deeds

Its radiance gleams in delight, like a flash,

Whose teeth shine in joyful flashes

وقد جمعت في حسنها كل مقتض

وقد جمعت في حسنها كل مقتض

وازهارها الحسناء في كف مقبض

وازهارها الحسناء في كف مقبض

and in its beauty it has gathered all that is required;

Who has gathered in his beauty every requisite

and its lovely blossoms are in a giver's palm,

And his beautiful blooming in a grasped fist

مننوعة الألوان ما بين أبيض

مننوعة الألوان ما بين أبيض

يلألىء نورا مثل اشراق فضله

يلألىء نورا مثل اشراق فضله

varied in color, ranging from white,

Of varied colors between white

sparkling with light like the radiance of his excellence.

Radiating light like the brilliance of his merit

يحاكي الثريا في انتظام طلوعها

يحاكي الثريا في انتظام طلوعها

واحداق مدّاح لديك خضوعها

واحداق مدّاح لديك خضوعها

It resembles the Pleiades in their orderly rising,

Rivaling the chandelier in the arrangement of its rising

and the eyes of panegyrists, humbly lowered before you.

And the gazes of a praiser to you is its submission

ويا حبذا إذ من نداك رجوعها

ويا حبذا إذ من نداك رجوعها

وتزهو بألوان عجيب وقوعها

وتزهو بألوان عجيب وقوعها

And oh, how lovely when they return from your bounty!

And how wonderful when from your company is its return

And it glows with colors wondrous in their effect.

And it blossoms with wondrous colors is its occurrence

حكت حالة الأعداء في يوم حمله

حكت حالة الأعداء في يوم حمله

إذا جال يوما في كتائب حزبهم

إذا جال يوما في كتائب حزبهم

They mirrored the enemies' plight on the day of his charge,

It told the state of enemies on the day of his attack

when one day he swept through the battalions of their host,

When one day in their parties' battalions he charged

وفاجا بعسالٍ مواكب ركبهم

وفاجا بعسالٍ مواكب ركبهم

فكم أدبروا خوفا ومن فرط رعبهم

فكم أدبروا خوفا ومن فرط رعبهم

and surprised their riders' columns with a quivering spear.

And surprised them with a courageous cavalry company

How often, then, they fled in fear and from their overwhelming terror,

So how they retreated in fear and ample dread

فصفر وجوه ثمّ زرق كخطبهم

فصفر وجوه ثمّ زرق كخطبهم

وحمرٌ كدمّ فاض من حدّ نصله

وحمرٌ كدمّ فاض من حدّ نصله

so faces turned yellow, then blue like their calamity,

Yellow faced then blue like their unfortunate condition

and red like blood that poured from his blade's edge.

And red like the blood spilled from the edge of his sword
