بعز حسن مهيب

ودل صبٍّ كئيبِ

ودل صبٍّ كئيبِ

By the glory of an awe-inspiring beauty,

With mighty, awe-inspiring beauty

and the coyness of a sorrowful lover,

And a melancholic, pouring heart

وشهد ريق عذيب

وشهد ريق عذيب

يا درَّ ثغر حبيبِ

يا درَّ ثغر حبيبِ

and the honey of sweet saliva,

And sweet, painful honey

O pearl of a beloved's mouth,

O beloved's mouth full of pearls

كن بالعقيق رحيما

كن بالعقيق رحيما

be merciful to the carnelian.

Be kind with carnelian

For grace is attributed to Him

فالفضل يُعزى إليهِ

فالفضل يُعزى إليهِ

إذ انتشيت لديهِ

إذ انتشيت لديهِ

For the credit is due to it,

When you were raised by Him

since you became intoxicated in its presence.

Remember the nursing of the orphan boy

اذكر رضاع لُميَه

اذكر رضاع لُميَه

ولا تشقَّ لديهِ

ولا تشقَّ لديهِ

Remember suckling at its dusky lips,

And do not cause him pain

and do not cause hardship in its presence:

Did He not find you an orphan?

ألم يجدك يتيما

ألم يجدك يتيما

did it not find you an orphan?
