للَهTo God (expressing wonder) يومa day فيin الكنيسةthe church التيwhich
للَه يوم في الكنيسة التي
فيon سفحthe slope خلّتهاits hollow الحجالthe partridges تجندلُare felled
في سفح خلّتها الحجال تجندلُ
By God, what a day at the church where
On the slope of its hollow, the partridges were felled!
هزتbrandished بزاةhawks الصيدhunting فيهin it مخالباًtalons
هزت بزاة الصيد فيه مخالباً
تقتادcarry off أرواحsouls الحجالthe partridges وتنسلُand dart away
تقتاد أرواح الحجال وتنسلُ
Hunting hawks brandished their talons that day,
Carrying off the partridges’ souls and darting away.
فغدتso became بنوthe sons of حجلانHajlan وهيwhile they were صريعةslain
فغدت بنو حجلان وهي صريعة
والفتكand slaughter فيهاamong them والتعددand multiplicity يعملُis at work
والفتك فيها والتعدد يعملُ
So the sons of Hajlan lay slain,
While slaughter and multiplicity were at work among them.
