Sol 6.1

  1. ثوى البحريْ انْدَراوَسُ تِرْبَ لَحدٍ

    سقاه غادق العفو الهتونِ

    Andraos al-Bahri lay at rest, a grave’s companion.

    May pardon’s copious downpour water him.

  2. وبات موسداً فيه فاضحى

    يميس بروض فردوس أمين

    He spent the night pillowed there, and by morning

    Walked gracefully in the garden of a secure Paradise.

  3. فتى كان العفاف له شباباً

    وكان له التقى أوفى قرينِ

    A young man whose youthfulness was chastity,

    And whose most faithful companion was piety.

  4. ولما ان قضى أجلاً ومالت

    بغصن صبائه ريح المنون

    And when he had fulfilled his allotted span, and

    Death’s wind had bent the bough of his youth,

  5. تلقاه الإله يقول أرّخ

    رث الملك المعدّ لذي يمينِ

    God received him, saying—record the date—

    “Inherit the kingdom prepared for one on the right.”
