لاح للأفراح بدر

وأتى السعد المسر

A full moon shone upon the festivities,

And gladdening good fortune came.

وبدا أبهى سرور

بأمان يستقر

And the fairest joy appeared,

Settling in safety.

وهزار الانس غنى

بالصفا يعلوه بشر

And the nightingale of companionship sang

In serenity, with gladness crowning it.

وسما روض التهاني

وتسامت فيه دهر

And the garden of congratulations rose high,

And time rose high within it.

والمسرات تبدت

بالأماني تستمر

And joys revealed themselves,

Continuing amid hopes.

باهت الأيام لما

هب للأفراح نشر

The days vied in glory when

A fragrance wafted through the festivities.

وصفا الوقت هنيئا

وزها ربع وعصر

And time grew serene and blissful,

And dwelling and age bloomed.

اشرق الايناس لما

للبها اشرق ثغر

Cheerful companionship shone when

Beauty's smiling mouth shone forth.

وشدت ورقاء عز

يا بني العلياء سروا

And glory's gray dove sang:

“O sons of eminence, rejoice!”

جاء سعد مذ تسامى

بالهنا الشهم الأبرّ

Good fortune came when he rose high—

In bliss, the gallant, most virtuous one,

الأمين الماجد المأمون

والمولى الأغر

The trustworthy, illustrious, trusted one,

And the radiant lord.

من تباهى فيه مجد

وهو للسؤدد صدر

He in whom glory took pride,

And he is foremost in nobility.

خير نجم ذي شهاب

يتلالى فيه نصر

The finest star with a fiery ray,

In whom victory sparkles.

فاخرت فيه المعالي

مذ علاها منه أمر

High honors took pride in him

Since his command rose above them.

ذو ذكاء صبح رشد

وله الحزم يقر

Possessed of brilliance, a dawn of wise guidance,

And firm resolve acknowledges him.

وأمير ذو إياد

من نداها جاد قطر

And a prince of generous hands,

From whose bounty rain poured.

فهو بحر وابن من قد

فاض من كفيه بحر

For he is an ocean, and the son of one

From whose two palms an ocean overflowed.

وهمام شبل ليث

ان غزا الآساد فروا

And a valiant man, a lion's cub:

If he attacks the lions, they flee.

من به اخصب عدل

وبه أزهر سير

One through whom justice flourished,

And through whom conduct blossomed.

رب فضل وثناء

عم من نعماه يسر

A master of virtue and praise,

From whose blessings ease spread to all.

فاق معنى بهبات

ما لها حد وحصر

He surpassed Ma'n with gifts

That had neither limit nor reckoning.

وبنثر الجود من

راحاته قد عاش شعر

And through generosity scattered from

His palms, poetry has lived.

فلنا منه العطايا

وله نظم ونثر

So we have gifts from him,

And he has verse and prose.

سيد حاز خلالا

ليس يحصيهن فكر

A lord possessed of virtues:

No mind can number them.

للمنى جاء بشيرا

فحبانا منه خير

He came to hopes as a bearer of glad tidings,

And bounty from him graced us.

ساد لبنان فاضحى

من سناه نعم قطر

He ruled Lebanon, and it became,

Through his radiance, a most excellent land.

وأمين المجد فيه

من أبيه لاح سر

And in Amin, glory's guardian,

A secret from his father shone forth.

كوكب اشرق سعدا

وله العليا مقر

A star that shone with good fortune,

And the heights are his abode.

يا أمينا في علاه

وكريما نعم حر

O Amin, exalted in rank,

And generous one, a fine freeborn man:

تتهنى في زواج

ذي سعود وتسر

May you delight in a marriage

Full of good fortune, and rejoice,

واقتران بالتهاني

دائما ما طال دهر

And a union amid congratulations,

Forever, as long as time endures,

وزفاف خير عرس

زانها أمن وطهر

And the bridal procession of the finest bride,

Whom security and purity adorned.

جادك المولى بنصر

وطويل لك عمر

May the Lord favor you with victory,

And may a long life be yours;

وترى انجال عز

زفهم سعد وقدر

And may you see noble offspring,

Led to their weddings by good fortune and destiny.

قد أتى التاريخ يزهو

قارن الزهرة بدر

The chronogram has come forth in splendor:

“A full moon has joined Venus.”
