لما تبدا قوام قامته

وحاجباه لناظر العين

When his upright stature came into view,

When she arose with her graceful figure,

And his two eyebrows, to the gazing eye,

And her eyebrows looked at the observer's eye,

رأيت موتي بسيف ناظره

رأيت موتي بسيف ناظره

من قيد رمح وقاب قوسين

من قيد رمح وقاب قوسين

I saw my death by the sword of his gaze,

I saw in the glance of her look my death,

From a spear's length and two bow-lengths away.

By the bow of her eyebrows and the bend of her spear.
