  1. سموه بدراً وذاك لما

    أن فاق في حسنه وتما

    They named him Badr—the full moon—and that was because

    he excelled in beauty and attained perfection.

  2. وأجمع الناس إذ رأوه

    لأنه اسم على مسمى

    And the people agreed unanimously when they saw him,

    for it was a name befitting its bearer.
