    من لقتلي بين الأنام استحلا

    The sword and spearhead were likened to the eyes

    Of one who, among humankind, deemed it lawful to slay me.

  2. فأبي السيف والسنان وقالا

    حدنا دون ذاك حاشا وكلا

    But the sword and spearhead refused, and said:

    “Our sharpness falls short of that—far be it! Never!”
