الثلج قد جاء على أشهب

الثلج قد جاء على أشهب

وعم بالبلقا وسيع الفضا

وعم بالبلقا وسيع الفضا

Snow has come riding a dapple-gray steed,

Snow has come on a gray steed,

and blanketed al-Balqā’s wide expanse.

And in al-Balqa has covered the vast expanse.

فارتاعت الشقراء من جلق

فارتاعت الشقراء من جلق

إذ سل من أبيضه أبيضا

إذ سل من أبيضه أبيضا

Then the tawny beauty of Jillaq took fright

So the fair one of Jilliq took fright,

when he drew a white blade from his white sheath.

When it drew a white blade from its whiteness.
