في الجامع الأموي الحسن مجتمع
وبابهand its doorway فيهin it للإحداقfor gazing لذّاتُdelights
وبابه فيه للإحداق لذّاتُ
In the Umayyad Mosque, beauty is gathered.
And its doorway holds delights for the gaze.
دقائقsubtleties الحسنof beauty يحويهاcontains them لهbelonging to it درجsteps
دقائق الحسن يحويها له درج
فحبذاso how delightful منهfrom it بالساعاتat the clocks ساعاتhours
فحبذا منه بالساعات ساعات
Its steps embrace the subtleties of beauty;
How delightful are the hours by its clocks!
وحبذاand how lovely معبدٌa sanctuary كمhow often أطربتdelighted أذناan ear
وحبذا معبدٌ كم أطربت أذنا
فيهin it منof الذكرthe remembrance of God نغماتmelodies وأصواتand voices
فيه من الذكر نغمات وأصوات
And what a lovely sanctuary! How often an ear was delighted
Within it by melodies and voices in remembrance of God.
جلاunveiled العروسّthe bride علىbefore الرائيthe beholder فطلعتهاand her countenance
جلا العروسّ على الرائي فطلعتها
تزفهاushers it forth منof بدورfull moons التمfullness طاراتtambourines
تزفها من بدور التم طارات
It unveiled the bride before the beholder; her countenance
Is ushered forth by tambourines of full moons.
