ومَوْسوسٍ عندَ الطَّهارَةِ لم يزلْ

ومَوْسوسٍ عندَ الطَّهارَةِ لم يزلْ

أَبداً على الماءِ الكثير مُوَاظبَا

أَبداً على الماءِ الكثير مُوَاظبَا

And a man obsessive about ritual purification remains

Forever assiduous in using abundant water.

يَستصغرُ البحْرَ الكبيرَ لذقنهِ

يَستصغرُ البحْرَ الكبيرَ لذقنهِ

ويَظُنُّ دِجلةَ ليسَ تكفي شارِبَا

ويَظُنُّ دِجلةَ ليسَ تكفي شارِبَا

He deems the great sea too small for his chin,

And thinks the Tigris cannot suffice for a moustache.
