You see the full moon at night guiding souls,

Whenever he passes the cups around among us.

    A Turk, well-proportioned as a slender bough,

Whose conceit keeps him from swaying.

You see him in his robe and think

That, with his shapely stature, he resembles a bride.

His palm and the moisture of his lips offer you—

As do his speech and his eye—aged wine.

He is the sun in beauty; no wonder that

The drinking companions remain Magians before him.
