O our beloved, the whole world, for me,
Our friends, the world in all its gloom
Has been a desolate abode since the hour of separation.
Since we parted has been a dreary void

بِحَياتِكُم لا تَمنَعوهُ فَيَطرُشُ
You have accustomed my hearing to the sweetness of your speech.
My ears you used to gladden with your talk
By your lives, do not deprive it, lest it grow deaf.
Do not deny me now what I enjoyed
