لعمرو أبي تمدُّر ما بنوها

بمذكورين إِن عُدَّ الفخارُ

By the life of Tamaddur’s father, her sons are not

mentioned when glorious deeds are reckoned.

فإن تفخر بأمك من قريش

فإن تفخر بأمك من قريش

فقد ينزو على الفرس الحمارُ

فقد ينزو على الفرس الحمارُ

So if you boast of your mother being of Quraysh,

a donkey may indeed mount a mare.
