الجسْمُ تذيبه حُقُوقُ الخِدمهْ

الجسْمُ تذيبه حُقُوقُ الخِدمهْ

والقلبُ عَذَابُهُ علو الهِمّهْ

والقلبُ عَذَابُهُ علو الهِمّهْ

The body is melted away by the obligations of service.

The body is worn down by the toils of service

And the heart's torment is lofty aspiration.

And the heart tortured by the pains of ambition

والعُمْرُ بِذَاكَ يَنْقَضى فِي تَعَب

والعُمْرُ بِذَاكَ يَنْقَضى فِي تَعَب

والرَّاحَةُ ماتَتْ فَعَلَيْهَا الرَّحْمه

والرَّاحَةُ ماتَتْ فَعَلَيْهَا الرَّحْمه

And life thus passes in toil.

Thus life passes in such labors

And rest has died—so may mercy be upon her.

And rest is dead, may it rest in peace
