يا معرضاً عني و لست بمعرض

بل ناقض عهدي و لستُ بناقضِ

O you who turn away from me, though I do not turn away,

O one who turns away from me, yet claims no rejection

rather, you who break my covenant, though I do not break it.

Rather, violating your promise, yet claims no violation

أتعبتني بخلائق لكَ لم تفدْ

أتعبتني بخلائق لكَ لم تفدْ

فيها و قد جَمَحَتْ رياضة رائض

فيها و قد جَمَحَتْ رياضة رائض

You have wearied me with traits of yours; no benefit came

You have wearied me with traits of yours that brought no gain

from a tamer’s training of them, for they had run wild.

When the pastures of cultivation have become desolate

أرَضيتَ أن تختارَ رفضي مذهباً

أرَضيتَ أن تختارَ رفضي مذهباً

فتشنع الأعداء أنك رافضي

فتشنع الأعداء أنك رافضي

Have you been content to choose rejecting me as a creed,

You saw fit to choose my rejection as your creed

so that the enemies denounce you as a Rafidi?

So enemies rejoice that you reject me
