إنْ جزْتَ بِحيٍّ ساكنينَ العَلَما

إنْ جزْتَ بِحيٍّ ساكنينَ العَلَما

من أجلهم حَالي كما قَدْ عُلِمَا

If you pass by a tribe dwelling at al-ʿAlam—

If you passed by people inhabiting the world

for whose sake my condition is as is already known—

For whom my state has become known

قُلْ عبدُكم ذابَ اشتياقاً لكُمُ

قُلْ عبدُكم ذابَ اشتياقاً لكُمُ

حتى لو ماتَ من ضَنىً ما علما

حتى لو ماتَ من ضَنىً ما علما

say: “Your servant has melted with longing for you,

Say your servant melted longing for you

so much that, were he to die of wasting illness, he would not know it.”

Even if he died of grief, they wouldn't know
