قلتُI said لجَزّارْto a butcher عَشِقْتُوI loved him كَمْhow much تُشَرِّحْنيyou cut me up
قلتُ لجَزّارْ عَشِقْتُو كَمْ تُشَرِّحْني
ذَبَحْتَنيyou slaughtered me قالَhe said ذاthis شُغليmy work تُوَبِّخُنِيyou reproach me
ذَبَحْتَني قالَ ذا شُغلي تُوَبِّخُنِي
I said to a butcher I loved, “How you cut me up!
I said to the butcher of love, "How much will you dissect me?"
You have slaughtered me!” He said, “This is my trade—do you reproach me?”
You slaughtered me, he said, "That's my job, don't reproach me."
ومَالْand he leaned إليَّtoward me وَبَاسْand kissed رجليmy foot يُرَبّخْنيhe pampers me
ومَالْ إليَّ وَبَاسْ رجلي يُرَبّخْني
يُرِيدُhe wants ذَبْحيto slaughter me فينفُخْنيso he inflates me لِيَسْلَخنِيto skin me
يُرِيدُ ذَبْحي فينفُخْني لِيَسْلَخنِي
And he leaned toward me and kissed my foot, pampering me.
And he leaned towards me and kissed my foot to appease me,
He wants to slaughter me, so he inflates me to skin me.
Wanting to slaughter me, he breathes into me to flay me.
