أَجدِّي فاشْربي بحياضِ قَوْمٍ

أَجدِّي فاشْربي بحياضِ قَوْمٍ

عليهمْ في فِعالهم حَبيرُ

عليهمْ في فِعالهم حَبيرُ

Be resolute, then drink at the watering pools of a people

Slake your thirst with the lives of a people

whose deeds clothe them in splendor.

Upon whom their deeds have set a mark

فإنَّ بني رِفاعة في مَعَدً

فإنَّ بني رِفاعة في مَعَدً

همُ اللَّجَأُ المؤمَّلُ والنصيرُ

همُ اللَّجَأُ المؤمَّلُ والنصيرُ

For the sons of Rifāʿa, among Maʿadd,

For the clan of Rifa'a in Ma'add

are the hoped-for refuge and the helper.

Are the hoped-for refuge and helper

هم الأخيارُ مَنْسِكةً وهَدْياً

هم الأخيارُ مَنْسِكةً وهَدْياً

وفي الهَيْجا كأنهمُ الصقورُ

وفي الهَيْجا كأنهمُ الصقورُ

They are the finest in devotion and conduct,

They are the virtuous ones, ritualistic and guided

and in battle they are like falcons.

And in battle as though they are eagles

عن الفحشاء كلِّمُ غبيٌّ

عن الفحشاء كلِّمُ غبيٌّ

وبالمعروفِ كلهمُ بَصيرُ

وبالمعروفِ كلهمُ بَصيرُ

All of them are ignorant of wickedness,

Far from lewdness, all are chaste

and all of them are discerning in goodness.

And in virtue all have insight

خلائِقُ بعضُهَمْ فيها كَبعْضٍ

خلائِقُ بعضُهَمْ فيها كَبعْضٍ

يَؤمُّ كبيرَهمْ فيها الصغيرُ

يَؤمُّ كبيرَهمْ فيها الصغيرُ

In their character traits, they resemble one another;

They resemble one another in character

the younger leads their elder in these.

Their youngest supports the eldest
